PRODUCTS AND ITEMS
Our designers have used a Parent-Child relationship between like product items. The concept is very simple: what the parent has, the child inherits. This will minimize the number of times you have to enter data. As example, the catalog description for a plant stays the same regardless of it's size or container so the catalog description is kept on the parent record along with other shared data.
Not only does this make data entry easier, it means that look-ups and reporting are faster as well.
At the child record or item level, we maintain information specific to that item only - it's barcode, pricing, availability and any supplier or customer data. Many pricing models are available including quantity, dated or sale pricing, price points and price levels.

PRODUCTS AND INVENTORY
Products may be kept in inventory in many different ways.
From an accounting perspective, you may chose between Average, LIFO, FIFO, Count only and Suppress. From a tracking point of view, the inventory can be kept in multiple locations with items using lot or serial numbers as required.
For this industry it is essential to be able to buy and sell in different levels of detail. Here you can buy cultivar or color specific and sell as flats or pots.
Items can be set for different cycle or inventory counts and, of course, the software does include a feature that allows you to change item sizes as plant material grows.
